about

There is no shortage of instrumental music with fine-tuned focus on nature released each year, but in 2021 the deluge of Earth-themed albums suggests nothing short of a cosmic commission from the Mother herself. After solo guitar records honoring the etheric (The Center and The Fringe), water (Everlasting Spring), and fire (Paraclete Tongue) elements, it may be no surprise that I myself was called to create my "earth album" at the beginning of this calendar year. Creek Baptism is not that album, but rather a winding side-trail introduction that is an invitation to experience nature as our closest terrestrial analogue to Divinity, and to view improvisation and spontaneity as an echo of the original creative impulse that is endlessly unfolding in the natural world.

Seven of these eight instrumental electric guitar pieces were recorded in a single session, with the final track recorded a week later, all as part of my Colander home-recording project.

I hope this collection offers a thoroughly pastoral experience, drawing you into closer communion with our planet's ecosystems: real, imagined, past, present, and future.
