Originally released as a cassette edition of 50 on Cabin Floor Esoterica (CFE #45) in May 2014.

Unliſted (pronounced "unlisted") was Matt LaJoie's first ever collection of solo guitar instrumental improvisations released under his own name. Perhaps the most free-form and challenging of his such releases, this debut shimmers with the curious glow of possibility, using slow, simple, almost incidental live loops to launch windblown electric guitar sagas. Recorded live to mono cassette recorder as one long improvisation (a fake "stereo" effect was achieved by doubling the mono track into hard-panned left & right channels, with the right channel offset by a millisecond) and then edited into three distinct segments, the final tracklisting presents the recording session in reverse chronology - beginning with the hard-won space-blues grace of "Lotta Bottle" and slowly abstracting outward as the album progresses. Tremolo set to 10, "Loser" begins with a brief reference to the familiar titular Garcia riff before melting into a warp zone of free-wander, its discrete rhythm suggested by the parabolic waves of intersecting delay and tremolo. And the 17+ minute title track takes its time exploring countless avenues and crossroads of free-jazz, psych-rock, desert blues, kosmische ambient, and durational devotional, all traveled with a nomad's amalgamating step.

The seeds of future Flower Room cassettes The Fountain, Free to Be..., and Full Service Station are clear and present throughout Unliſted, while the live guitar-plus-looping method that LaJoie has utilized to record every solo release in his discography found its form in this session. After being out of print for over six years and unavailable for download nearly as long, we are thrilled to be making Matt's solo guitar debut available once again.
